Civil Engineer

1.      Job Overview

The Civil Engineer reports directly to the Project Manager/ Resident Engineer and provides Civil & Support services to the Project Team(s) as requested. Specifically, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for and undertake the following duties and activities.

2.      Duties and Activities

a)   Assist, & liaise with between design team(s) and local Municipality and Governing authorities,

b)   Ensure All Permits and required licenses are obtained in a timely manner and being maintained through out the duration,

c)   Carry out Civil Designs and Design Reviews when required, to the satisfaction of the client & Authorities requirements,

d)   For Site operations:

                             i.   represent the company in the capacity of Resident Engineer as required, and be responsible for project smooth progress, completion, and client satisfaction,

                            ii.   supervise site operations, testing, and handing over as needed,

                           iii.   conduct and attend progress meetings as required,

                          iv.   supervise constructions activities specifically concert works and during night shifts,

                            v.   review shop drawings, submittals, and manage processing of the same,

                          vi.   conduct site inspections as needed,

                         vii.   provide construction progress reports on daily, weekly, and monthly bases to client and Head Office,

                        viii.   liaise with HO for all site operation,

                          ix.   if required, review, manage, and recommend contractor’s payments and variation orders,

e)   Actively participate and assists the office/ design manager in all project related daily matters,

f)    Participate in Weekly/ Monthly progress meetings and assist in preparing minutes of meeting,

g)   Participate in design review of the Project(s) deliverables,

h)   Participate in the review of Project Specifications and Documentation,

i)     Review deliverables of Design Consultants/ Sub-Consultants and ensure compliance with Agreement,

j)     Participate in Tender evaluation and screening,

k)   Liaison with the client and project Design team,

l)     Liaison/coordinate between the Q/S provider and the project team(s)

m)  Coordinate / issue bid documents,

n)   Maintain a current set of project documentation which includes the Design/ construction and their related addendums,

o)   The preparation of project/ office correspondence, reports, and presentation,

p)   The co-ordination of all project planned meetings including, attendance and follow up on issues,

q)   Any other requirement as directed by the Office Manager.
