In addition there is an option for day surgery as well as maternity for dual registered nurses/midwives. PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provide safe compassionate person centered care within the unit/facility ensuring safe care is delivered in collaboration

with patients/families/careers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes. A typical day in the life of a Registered Nurse will include the following:

• To contribute towards own development to maintain existing competence and/or develop further

competence in areas such as emergency; general medical; aged care; and day surgery (Only for

Gunnedah roles)

• Deliver quality, efficient and effective person centered care which meets the needs of the patients and their

families or careers.

• Act as an advocate to assist patients and their families/careers make informed decisions.

• Support patients and their families/careers to ensure clinical interventions and service delivery processes

are understood and enable patients to make informed decisions in relation to their health needs.

• Make appropriate referrals to support patients requirements on discharge.

• Provide appropriate supervision and/or mentoring for staff as required including the supervision of

students on clinical placement.

• Respond effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient.

• Delegate aspects of care to ENs and AINs according to their competence and within their scope of

practice.

• Delivery of service – within professional boundaries, ethics and cultural respect, scope of practice.

• Demonstrate commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and

families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

• Act in accordance with the HNE Health Values Charter and NSW Health Code of Conduct; model

behaviors that reflect the Excellence Framework (Every Patient, Every Time) and ensure work is

conducted in a manner that demonstrates values of cultural respect in accordance with HNE Health’s

Closing the Gap strategy.

resolve conflicts when they arise.

5. Demonstrated ability to apply and share professional expertise to enhance patient care.

6. Registered Nurse licensed an accredited institution.
