About Pakistan Television Corporation

Pakistan Television Corporation is the first broadcasting network in black and white on the people of Pakistan’s television screen. It is the government-owned broadcasting channel, started with a small pilot station from Lahore on 26 November 1964 incorporated by NEC Corporation of Japan. The very first Television centers were formed in Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi in 1964 and later in 1974 in Peshawar and Quetta. It was nationalized in 1970 by the Pakistani Government due to low revenue. When it started its operation, PTV only had 30 employees, but now they have a workforce of 6000 persons. It was introduced to educate and inform the people of Pakistan through entertainment and to instill in them the history, current affairs, heritage, and development happening around the world. All the issues are controlled by a team of Board of Directors that are appointed by the Government of Pakistan.
