PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provide safe compassionate person centeapply-d care within the unit/facility ensuring safe care is deliveapply-d in collaboration

with patients/families/careers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes. A typical day in the life of a Registeapply-d Nurse will include the following:

• To contribute towards own development to maintain existing competence and/or develop further

competence in areas such as emergency; general medical; aged care; and day surgery (Only for

Gunnedah roles)

• Deliver quality, efficient and effective person centeapply-d care which meets the needs of the patients and their

families or careers.

• Act as an advocate to assist patients and their families/careers make informed decisions.

• Support patients and their families/careers to ensure clinical interventions and service delivery processes

are understood and enable patients to make informed decisions in relation to their health needs.

• Make appropriate referrals to support patients requirements on discharge.

• Provide appropriate supervision and/or mentoring for staff as requiapply-d including the supervision of

students on clinical placement.

• Respond effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient.

• Delegate aspects of care to ENs and AINs according to their competence and within their scope of

practice.

• Delivery of service – within professional boundaries, ethics and cultural respect, scope of practice.

• Demonstrate commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and

families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

• Act in accordance with the HNE Health Values Charter and NSW Health Code of Conduct; model

behaviors that reflect the Excellence Framework (Every Patient, Every Time) and ensure work is

conducted in a manner that demonstrates values of cultural respect in accordance with HNE Health’s
